Vucic Sets Serbia Elections in 3-4 Months, Plans Resignation Before Vote

Aleksandar Vucic said Serbia will hold early general elections within the next three to four months and repeated that he will quit the presidency before the ballot.
Any formal resignation would trigger a presidential election within 90 days, creating a path for Vucic—barred from a third presidential run—to return as prime minister, the office seen as Serbia’s most powerful.
Vucic said he has not decided whether to seek the premiership and gave no election date, but said he could step down in July, August or September.
The move comes after more than a year of youth-led anti-government protests sparked by the Novi Sad station canopy collapse that killed 16 people and fueled accusations of corruption, police excess and democratic backsliding.
