Samsung SDS Targets Chip Photolithography With Quantum-AI Hybrid, Plans 2H Proof of Concept

Samsung SDS said it will start a proof of concept in the second half of 2026 for a quantum-AI hybrid algorithm aimed at semiconductor photolithography, a process central to chip quality.
The system splits work across computing types: quantum computers run the core simulation, classical computers process the output, and AI detects and corrects quantum-computing errors during calculation.
Samsung has reportedly secured some of the underlying algorithms and will test whether they can streamline process simulation, raise integration density and improve yield while cutting pattern-design and etching time and cost.
Rather than selling standalone software, Samsung SDS plans to feed the technology into Samsung Electronics' Semiconductor R&D Center, which has spent more than 10 years developing process-simulation tools for different chip products and manufacturing steps.
