Nancy Pelosi said she voted yes on Massie Amendment #8 to the 2027 State and national security appropriations bill, despite calling the measure “ill-conceived,” because of the message it sends.
The former speaker said U.S. policy “must change” to secure a just and lasting peace, arguing the Netanyahu government “cannot maintain its current course” and that Americans want an end to a “perpetual cycle of war.”
Pelosi framed her vote as consistent with support for a strong U.S.-Israel relationship and a two-state solution, while also backing Hakeem Jeffries’ proposals for peace.
Her statement adds to widening Democratic dissent over Israel policy after 103 House Democrats backed stripping $3.3 billion in military funding for Israel from a separate 2027 bill.
