For most buyers, waiting for the Pixel 11 is the smarter move. At $949, the Pixel 10 Pro XL is a strong phone: a bright 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display, a versatile triple-camera system, 16GB of RAM, seven years of updates through 2032, and Google’s best AI features. Reviews have praised its photography, display quality and live translation tools, and the $250 discount brings a former $1,199 flagship under $1,000. The problem is timing and value. Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 11 on August 12, with the base 256GB model rumored to start at $899. That means a newer generation could arrive within weeks for less money, with a Tensor G6 chip expected to improve efficiency, thermals and connectivity—areas where the Pixel 10 line has drawn criticism. Reports on the Pixel 10 series have also pointed to uneven battery efficiency, weaker gaming performance than Snapdragon rivals, and recent Android 17 issues including touchscreen, Wi-Fi, eSIM and 5G problems. That does not make the Pixel 10 Pro XL a bad buy. If you need a phone now, want the larger Pro XL screen and camera hardware specifically, and care more about photography and Google AI than peak gaming power, $949 is defensible. But it is not an irresistible deal: the same phone has recently hit $899, and the smaller Pixel 10 Pro is already down to $699. For anyone who can wait a few weeks, this is more likely a purchase you may regret than a smart upgrade.
