Gemini 3.6 Flash is being added to GitHub Copilot for Pro, Pro+, Max, Business and Enterprise users, with a gradual rollout across editors, the Copilot CLI, cloud agent and mobile app.
Early testing showed the new model beat Gemini 3.5 Flash on task-completion rates and token efficiency in coding and longer-horizon agentic workflows, which GitHub says is the reason for the launch.
GitHub positions Gemini 3.6 Flash for web and app development, with configurable reasoning effort and parallel tool use for more complex workflows.
Enterprise and Business customers must first enable the Gemini 3.6 Flash Preview policy in Copilot settings, while usage is billed at provider list pricing under Copilot's usage-based model.
