Nancy Mace Introduces Resolution to Dissolve 3 Race-Based House Caucuses

Rep. Nancy Mace on Thursday proposed banning House caucuses organized by race, ethnicity or national origin, a move that would target the Congressional Black, Hispanic and Asian Pacific American caucuses.
Mace said such groups amount to “federally-sanctioned segregation” and “taxpayer-funded discrimination,” framing the resolution as part of her broader push against diversity, equity and inclusion policies.
The measure would also reach some GOP-linked organizations, including Black, Latino and Asian American Republican staff associations, not just Democratic-aligned caucuses.
Republicans control the House, but the resolution faces long odds because Democrats are expected to oppose it unanimously and some Republicans may also resist.
The proposal lands as recent GOP redistricting in several Southern states has already shrunk the Congressional Black Caucus by reshaping or eliminating multiple Black-majority districts.
