Comic-Con Extends San Diego Run to 2030 as 135,000 Fans Set to Arrive

Comic-Con International secured a new agreement to remain in San Diego through at least 2030, extending its prior commitment by three years as the 2026 convention opens.
Competitive hotel rates and increased room blocks helped clinch the deal, addressing recurring concerns that high lodging costs and convention-center capacity could push the event elsewhere.
The 2026 four-day convention is expected to draw more than 135,000 attendees, generate over $160 million in regional economic impact and book more than 61,000 hotel room nights.
City leaders said Comic-Con should deliver about $3 million in hotel and sales tax revenue, while police and fire departments added staffing and Harbor Drive will stay closed through Sunday.
Held in San Diego since 1970, Comic-Con has grown into the city's biggest convention and a global pop-culture event with more than 460,000 square feet of exhibit space.
