Summary
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian intelligence believes Russia has readied missiles for a “massive” attack within the next 48 hours and urged people to heed air raid alerts.
At least 10 people were killed and about 100 injured in Friday missile strikes on the Kyiv region, while guided bomb attacks on Slovyansk killed another five, according to Ukrainian authorities.
The Kyiv strike reportedly hit an arms exhibition attended by Ukrainian defense-industry representatives, and Latvia said its consulate in Slovyansk was damaged; EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said the attack showed Moscow’s disregard for international law.
The warning comes before Zelenskyy is due in Washington next week to meet Donald Trump as Kyiv and Washington discuss peace proposals, after U.S. and Russian officials held talks in the Philippines and Marco Rubio said U.S. arms policy toward Ukraine had not changed.
