Rockstar’s support guidance says Japan-issued code-in-box copies expire 170 days after issuance, which appears to mean launch day, November 19, 2026. That would put the redemption deadline around May 8, 2027. For importers, that creates a real time limit and raises the risk of paying for a sealed copy that can no longer be redeemed later. The result is not automatically a “costly nightmare,” but PS5 importers now have to treat GTA 6 like a region-sensitive digital purchase, not a normal physical game. Fans in countries where the game is restricted or unavailable could face the most friction, particularly if they try using secondary-region PSN accounts, which may conflict with Sony’s account rules. The safest advice is simple: buy from a retailer in the same country or territory as your platform account. On PS5, that is essential; on Xbox, it is much less of a concern.
