CDW Survey Finds 43% of Organizations Hit by AI Phishing as 37% Face AI Malware

Forty-three percent of organizations surveyed said they have already faced AI-enhanced or AI-generated phishing, while 37% reported AI-augmented malware in CDW’s poll of 951 IT decision-makers.
Twenty-five percent ranked AI-generated phishing and social engineering as their top AI-enabled threat, ahead of AI-powered malware and automated attack tools at 21%, while only 8% cited deepfake impersonation as the biggest risk.
Forty-one percent plan to deploy AI-driven threat detection soon, with 49% focusing on anomaly detection, 47% on threat intelligence analysis, and 42% on phishing and fraud detection.
The report also points to internal AI risks: 46% frequently assess and monitor AI infrastructure, 45% plan employee training on safe AI use, and 44% are adding data-protection controls and security monitoring for AI systems.
