The timing also intersects with the Senate Judiciary Committee’s consideration of acting Attorney General Todd Blanche for the permanent post, which could force revisions to the agreement tied to Trump’s IRS case.
Tax administration remains one of the few active bipartisan lanes in Congress, with Marsha Blackburn and Catherine Cortez Masto also proposing a new IRS verification system to combat tax-preparer ID theft.
