Nanoleaf Cuts Blocks Combo XL Smarter Kit to $99.99 in 50% Off New Low

Q: Will mounting heavy gaming gear on these modular LED panels risk tearing up your walls over time?

Yes—if you load the shelf or pegboard near their limits and rely only on adhesive or weak drywall mounting, you could damage the wall over time. Nanoleaf says the shelf holds up to 6.6 pounds and the pegboard up to 3.3 pounds, which is enough for light gaming accessories such as headphones or a controller. But those ratings describe what the accessories can support, not necessarily what every wall surface or installation method can safely handle for months or years. Drywall by itself is a weak base: a screw in plain half-inch drywall holds only a small amount before the gypsum crumbles, and real-world capacity drops further when weight pulls outward, as shelves do. That outward force matters here. A controller resting on a pegboard hook or headphones hanging off the side create leverage, not just straight downward weight. Over time, repeated loading, bumping, or removing gear can loosen anchors and enlarge holes, especially in drywall without a stud behind it. Heavy items such as multiple controllers, a tablet, small speakers, or stacked books raise that risk. The safer approach is to treat Nanoleaf’s stated limits as maximums, not targets. Mount into a wall stud when possible, or use anchors rated well above the expected load. Keep a safety margin, avoid dynamic loads, and reserve the setup for lighter accessories rather than dense hardware. Used that way, the kit is unlikely to tear up walls; pushed to the limit on poor anchors, it might.
