2030 is Comic-Con International’s new San Diego horizon after it reached a deal with the city, convention center, tourism authority and regional partners during this year’s four-day event.
Increased hotel room blocks at competitive rates helped lock in the agreement, with organizers saying the terms should keep tens of thousands of fans returning for years.
2028 also emerged as a key date on the entertainment slate: Marvel announced “Black Panther 3,” with Ryan Coogler returning to direct and David Jonsson cast as the new Black Panther.
Across TV and gaming, studios used Comic-Con to launch trailers and release dates, including “Blade Runner 2099,” “Neuromancer,” “Avatar: Seven Havens” and Sony’s “God of War: Laufey,” due Feb. 16, 2027.
The residency deal ends recent relocation speculation and reinforces San Diego’s hold on one of pop culture’s biggest annual industry-and-fan gatherings.
