Someone beginning full-time work at 25, for example, would not reach 42 contribution years until about 67. So the promise of “retiring at 62” could remain legally true while becoming less generous in practice for many workers. They could leave at 62, but not on a full pension, and might have to keep working into their late 60s to avoid a cut. That said, this is still only a proposal under study, not formal policy. Le Pen has confirmed the pledge to restore the legal age to 62, but the broader pension package has not yet been finalized.
