Polanski told BBC Newsnight three times he would not apologise to Farage for re-posting the image, calling it an inadvertent mistake that Farage had amplified in a fundamentally dishonest way.
The Green Party leader said he accepted an Instagram collaboration on a 20-photo party series without reading the T-shirt slogan, deleted the post quickly, and said he had not been contacted by police.
Farage and Reform UK cast the image as incitement to murder, with Farage saying Polanski should be arrested; Reform has also asked the Greater London Authority's monitoring officer to examine a possible code-of-conduct breach.
Polanski said he received a death threat on Tuesday and argued claims that he incited murder were putting him in danger, while still saying Farage should be kept safe and political violence condemned.
The Metropolitan Police said there was no update on the complaint filed Monday, as ministers and rivals renewed scrutiny of politicians' social media conduct after the recent death of former MP Ann Widdecombe.
