Two civil lawsuits filed this week accuse Devin Harper and Princewill Umanmielen of breaching Ole Miss revenue-sharing contracts by transferring to LSU without paying preset exit fees totaling $950,000.
Ole Miss said the players had signed agreements requiring compensation if they left before fulfilling their commitments, and the school sued after settlement efforts failed.
LSU, according to Ole Miss court claims, rejected requests in March to cover the fees and said it was not obligated to pay, leaving the dispute with the athletes.
The case adds legal heat to an already tense Ole Miss-LSU rivalry after former Rebels coach Lane Kiffin took the LSU job and the players followed him to Baton Rouge.
