Summary
More than 24,000 BGE customers lost power Tuesday night after severe storms swept across Maryland, with Anne Arundel County hardest hit at over 9,500 outages.
Lightning, damaging winds, heavy rain and hail drove the outages, which also cut service to more than 5,300 customers in Baltimore County and nearly 3,000 in Baltimore City.
BGE said 80% of affected customers should have power back by 11 p.m. Wednesday, with most of the remaining outages restored by 11 p.m. Thursday.
Crews are working around the clock to assess storm damage and restore service after the system that earlier brought widespread damage across Maryland, including palm-sized hail.
