Summary
Bloomberg signed a definitive agreement to acquire Canoe Intelligence, adding an AI platform that automates private-markets data collection and delivery for institutional investors.
Canoe processes more than 1.5 million documents a month across 44,000-plus funds and serves over 500 institutional clients representing more than $11 trillion in assets under service.
Bloomberg said the deal targets a long-standing private-markets problem—fragmented data—by linking Canoe's post-investment reporting with Bloomberg tools for fund screening, benchmarking, risk analysis and cash management.
The acquisition builds on a certified integration launched earlier in 2026 and fits Bloomberg's broader push beyond the Terminal into private assets, where it already covers more than 3 million companies, 50,000 funds and 16,000 direct loans.
Bloomberg plans to fold the combined capabilities into ASKB, its agentic AI interface, to give investors a unified view across public and private portfolios from pre-investment research to portfolio oversight.
