Fall 2026 is the target for DoorDash Air’s commercial debut after DoorDash became the eighth U.S. drone operator to secure FAA Part 135 certification.
DoorDash said the in-house service should cut delays on 3- to 5-mile orders, which now take nearly 25% longer than shorter trips because matching a Dasher and covering extra distance takes more time.
DoorDash Labs is building the aircraft, routing, safety, maintenance and merchant-handoff systems, while the company’s Autonomous Delivery Platform will choose among drivers, drones and its Dot robot.
Tens of thousands of drone deliveries have already been completed through partners Wing and Flytrex, and DoorDash said those relationships remain active even as its own aircraft join the same network.
