It transformed through recovery work that shifted her focus from fear and weight to health, strength and how food feels in the body — a change she now applies to raising her seven children without shame around eating. In the SiriusXM *Page Six Radio* interview, Hilaria Baldwin said her disordered eating began extremely early: she started dieting at 5 and, at one point, became so consumed by calorie fear that she worried about calories in toothpaste. Over roughly 20 years, she said, she experienced anorexia, bulimia, overeating and undereating, and struggled to recognize basic hunger and fullness cues. Baldwin said she eventually did “a lot of the work” to heal before becoming a mother because the disorder was making daily life and relationships miserable. That recovery, she said, involved relearning how to eat comfortably, paying attention to whether she was hungry or full, and moving away from obsessing over weight. In earlier comments she has described the healthier mindset as focusing less on appearance and more on how strong and healthy she feels. That personal turnaround now shapes her parenting. Rather than policing food or attaching morality to it, she said she tries to “empower” her children by talking about strength, balance and asking, “How does the food make you feel?” She said she avoids shaming them for treats or snacks, even if they are not ideal choices, because she does not want to pass on the same anxiety and body-image distress she experienced.

Hilaria Baldwin said on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio that dating Alec Baldwin at 27 may have looked like “gold digger vibes,” but said she repeatedly refused gifts because she wanted to know the relationship was genuine.
The 42-year-old also revisited the viral “when I’m talking, you’re not talking” moment, calling it an inside joke at home and saying frustration over Alec Baldwin’s frequent interruptions was edited into a harsher clip.
