Summary
An amended memorandum of understanding folds CNCF’s CoHDI sandbox project into IOWN Global Forum’s All-Photonics Network, extending their collaboration on AI-native infrastructure.
CoHDI will let disaggregated hardware resources be shared across optical networks, adding Scale-Up/Down for Kubernetes nodes and enabling “Scale-Across” capacity beyond a single data-center site.
IOWN and CNCF said the integration is meant to help AI data centers overcome physical limits of single-site facilities while supporting more secure, sustainable and high-performance computing over optical interconnects.
The expanded tie-up builds on work in LF Edge and LF Networking and is aimed at advancing the Forum’s Vision 2030 roadmap for use cases including AI-integrated communications, cyber-physical systems and AI computing.
