Florida Man Charged in Mother's Killing at 23, Accused of Setting Body on Fire

George Beemer, 23, was arrested Saturday in Fort Myers on second-degree murder, first-degree arson and abuse-of-a-corpse charges after deputies found his mother dead in a burned home.
A 911 call first sent Beemer to a hospital for chest pain, then a second call reported a fire at the same residence, where crews discovered the severely burned body.
Detectives said Beemer admitted shooting his mother once, pouring gasoline around her body and igniting it, telling investigators he acted after years of built-up anger and because she had wanted cremation.
Beemer also alleged his mother had abused him for years, including molestation, but a friend of the victim told local media those claims were false; he remains jailed as the investigation continues.
