More than 20 Republican governors, including Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen, signed a letter urging the Senate to pass President Trump’s budget reconciliation package before the August recess.
The governors said the measure would advance three priorities: election-law changes through the SAVE America Act, added military funding, and economic support for farmers aimed at lowering food prices.
Pillen tied the package to Nebraska interests, saying it would strengthen the military, support the state’s agriculture producers and build on the voter ID law he pushed in his first legislative session as governor.
The letter argues the package is needed to restore confidence in elections, cover higher operational and readiness costs for the military, and ensure family farms are not left behind.
