Cheltenham Football Team Sees 10 Charged in 2025 Hazing Case

Ten Cheltenham High School football players and coaches were charged after a 15-year-old teammate was allegedly assaulted twice in August and September 2025, including being stomped with cleats and jabbed with a broomstick.
Grand jury filings say one attack was recorded and shared with students, while witnesses described the victim curling into a ball as teammates kicked, punched and stomped him in the head and groin.
Four coaches were charged not for the assaults themselves but for allegedly keeping the matter in-house after learning of the Sept. 3 incident and asking the victim not to tell his mother.
The victim's mother took him to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with a penile contusion, after hearing about the attack from a relative rather than the team.
School administrators later learned of the hazing through an anonymous reporting app, called police and canceled the football season.
