The State Department said it will issue 250,000 more commemorative "Patriot Passports," expanding a limited run created for America’s 250th anniversary after demand outstripped the initial release.
Applicants can get the passports only through in-person appointments—either at the Washington Passport Agency or at anniversary passport events nationwide—and must book by phone rather than online.
Regular passport fees and standard processing times generally still apply, and applicants must submit either a DS-82 or DS-11 form depending on eligibility.
The added supply broadens a program that began in Washington in early July and is now being rolled out more widely through August and September events across the country.
