Aug. 4 will mark the first official release of D-HOPPER and ZERO RACERS, two cancelled Virtual Boy games, through Nintendo Classics on Switch and Switch 2.
Nintendo said the titles will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers; players also need a Virtual Boy-style headset accessory or a cheaper cardboard version for the app’s 3D experience.
ZERO RACERS was an unreleased F-Zero spinoff developed by Nintendo, while D-HOPPER—originally Dragon Hopper—was made by Intelligent Systems and shelved after the Virtual Boy’s weak sales.
Five Virtual Boy soundtracks—Wario Land, Mario’s Tennis, Mario Clash, Galactic Pinball and Teleroboxer—were also added to Nintendo Music, now accessible on iOS, Android and web browsers with a Switch Online membership.
