Summary
Three months in jail for Louise Harris has left 81-year-old Elizabeth Shipton's family saying she is now too traumatised to be left alone after CCTV captured the abuse in Pontardawe.
Cameras showed Harris, 42, drunkenly screaming at Shipton, ripping up her knitting, damaging the home and waving a kitchen knife after Shipton accidentally triggered her emergency alarm.
Tracy Faram Shipton said the sentence was "laughable" and means Harris will spend about 40% of the term in custody before release.
A dropped attempted robbery charge has blocked any family challenge under the unduly lenient sentence scheme, because only qualifying offences can be referred to the Court of Appeal.
The family had kept the surveillance system after Elizabeth's husband died in December 2025, using it to monitor care arranged after Harris, a former neighbour, offered to help.
