Singapore’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate slipped to 2.0% in Q2 2025 from 2.1% in Q1, the lowest level since Q4 2024.
12,300 jobs were added in the quarter after a 6,900 gain in Q1, extending employment growth to a ninth straight quarter as finance, professional services and construction expanded.
Resident unemployment fell to 2.7% and the citizen rate to 2.8%, while hiring was supported by non-resident workers in construction and manufacturing and local recruitment in services and IT.
The Ministry of Manpower said the labor market remains tight in tech and healthcare, with older and mid-career workers still facing transition challenges despite the broader improvement.
Economists expect unemployment to hold around 2.0% to 2.2% through the rest of 2025 unless external shocks derail demand.
