Shukur Aikebaer, 60, was identified as the Chino Hills victim, while suspects Jianquan Bo, 66, and Zhengfeng Bo, 67, were named as brothers from Irvine; Zhengfeng was killed by deputies and Jianquan was arrested.
Wednesday night’s attack began during a power outage, investigators said, when Aikebaer went outside and the brothers allegedly shot him once and forced him into a car trunk.
A Nissan with Oregon plates then sped from the scene, leading deputies on a roughly 1-mile chase; at the stop, authorities said the driver opened the trunk and shot Aikebaer inside before deputies returned fire.
Business records show Aikebaer and Zhengfeng Bo were tied to Panshi LLC, founded in 2018, and sheriff’s officials said the two men knew each other through a previous working relationship.
No motive has been disclosed, and investigators are examining the outage itself as Aikebaer’s family and friends say they cannot explain why the father of three was targeted.
