Koloma selected GeoComputing Group’s RiVA private cloud platform to run natural hydrogen exploration and analysis workflows, aiming to speed identification of viable underground deposits.
Days-to-hours processing is central to the deal: RiVA is built to handle massive geological datasets and complex models faster, a key bottleneck in the still data-heavy search for commercial white hydrogen reserves.
More than 200 pre-integrated petro-technical applications on the platform also let Koloma reuse oil-and-gas datasets and tools for hydrogen exploration without building specialized IT infrastructure.
Koloma said the setup should ease pressure on its lean IT team, while integrated disaster recovery and ongoing GeoComputing engineering support are meant to protect data and improve business continuity.
Natural hydrogen has drawn interest as a low-carbon energy source because it occurs underground and needs little processing after extraction, but commercially viable exploration remains costly and technically demanding.
