Donovan Mitchell, Coco Jones Marry as 5 Celebrity Athletes Join Wedding

Q: How did a leaked video expose the highly guarded wedding of an NBA superstar and an R&B sensation?

The wedding became public because video from the private ceremony leaked online before Donovan Mitchell or Coco Jones announced anything themselves. What exposed it most clearly was footage of the couple’s first dance, reportedly set to Musiq Soulchild’s “Love.” The clip circulated on social media over the weekend and quickly signaled that the Cleveland Cavaliers star and the singer-actress had married. Additional footage was reportedly shared via Instagram Stories, including posts linked to former basketball player Troy Payne, and was then amplified by sports and entertainment accounts. That leak was significant because Mitchell and Jones had tightly controlled public access to their relationship. They had acknowledged being together and engaged, but they largely kept major milestones off social media and out of the press. Jones had said their privacy was intentional, not secrecy, and both had described the relationship as something they wanted to protect. Once the footage spread, it also revealed details the couple had not publicly shared, including the guest list. Reports said attendees included Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, Bam Adebayo, Russell Wilson and Ciara, underscoring how high-profile the event was despite being privately staged. In effect, a single circulating video broke the wall around one of sports and music’s most guarded celebrity relationships, turning a closed ceremony into a public news event.
