Marvel's Wolverine has received an ESRB Mature 17+ rating, putting an official age label on Insomniac's PS5 action game a month before release.
The board cited Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Strong Language and Drug Reference, describing claw attacks, decapitations, dismemberment, blood-splatter and slow-motion finishers.
The rating summary also notes a handful of scenes showing exposed buttocks, dialogue mentioning fentanyl, and profanity including “f*k” and “sht.”
Insomniac has confirmed players can reduce blood and gore, but the rating signals a markedly harsher tone than the studio's Spider-Man games when Wolverine launches on Sept. 15, 2026.
