Next week’s forecast heatwave could lift Ukraine’s electricity demand by about 1 GW, prompting preparations for possible power-limitation schedules for industry and businesses.
Ukrenergo and energy officials are trying to keep the grid balanced by adjusting maintenance at generation facilities, including nuclear units, and maximizing available domestic output.
Ukraine also plans to raise electricity imports and encourage businesses to buy imported power for their own use to ease pressure during peak demand.
Households were urged to cut consumption during 16:00–23:00, with officials saying conservation should help reduce the risk of emergency outages and stabilize supply in August heat.
