Apple Plans iPhone-Windows Clipboard Sharing by Fall 2027 After Microsoft EU Request

Summary
Apple said it will build an iPhone-to-Windows clipboard-sharing feature, targeting completion by fall 2027 and a developer beta shortly after.
Microsoft triggered the move with a March 25 EU interoperability request, arguing Windows users lack an equivalent to Apple’s Universal Clipboard for continuous cross-device copy and paste.
Apple’s June 26 response says the feature will use an extension that detects copied items and sends them to paired devices through its Accessory Transport framework.
User consent will be required once per paired Windows PC through AccessorySetupKit, and Apple said the project remains a significant engineering effort that could be limited to the EU.
