Amazon Secures Baywatch Reboot in Multiple Markets, Adding 9 Original Seasons

Q: Amazon secured the classic library alongside the reboot, but will iconic stars like Pamela Anderson make a surprise return to the beach?

Pamela Anderson is not currently set to return, and by her own account a cameo looks unlikely. While Amazon’s deal includes the original “Baywatch” library alongside the new reboot, there has been no announcement that Anderson will appear. In recent interviews, Anderson said no one involved with Fox’s reboot had reached out to her and that she has “no plans” to go back to “Baywatch.” She added that producers had at one point spoken with her sons, Brandon and Dylan Lee, about possible behind-the-scenes involvement, but nothing came of it. That does not mean the reboot is ignoring the franchise’s legacy. David Chokachi is returning as Cody Madison, and Erika Eleniak is guest-starring again as Shauni McClain. Additional reports also say Michael Bergin and Kelly Packard will reprise their original roles. So the show is clearly bringing back familiar faces, just not Anderson at this stage. There is also no confirmed return yet for other marquee alumni such as David Hasselhoff or Carmen Electra in the material released so far. If Fox or Fremantle wanted to keep a major cameo secret, that is always possible, but there is no evidence of that now. So the practical answer is that fans can expect nostalgia through the classic library and several returning cast members, but they should not count on a Pamela Anderson surprise appearance unless producers announce a change later.

Amazon Prime Video picked up the upcoming 12-episode Baywatch reboot across much of Europe, Canada, Latin America and India, with the series set to debut on Fox in January 2027 and on Prime Video later next year.
The deal also gives Amazon the Baywatch library in those territories, including all nine seasons of the original series and Baywatch Hawaii seasons 9 and 10, but excluding the two-season spinoff Baywatch Nights.
Fremantle brokered the international agreement and handles overseas sales, while Fox Entertainment Global retains domestic distribution rights.
Stephen Amell leads the reboot cast, with Matt Nix as showrunner and McG directing the premiere, as producers position the revival as a refreshed version of a franchise that once aired in more than 200 countries.
