Nick Bilton Moves to Quash 95% of '60 Minutes' Rumors After May Shake-Up

A staff memo sent Monday shows new executive producer Nick Bilton telling “60 Minutes” employees that roughly one rumor a day has circulated since he arrived and that 95% are “fabrications.”
Bilton urged staff to bring concerns directly to him instead of leaking, saying he wants the program discussed for its reporting rather than newsroom drama ahead of its 59th season next month.
The memo also laid out operational changes, including a real-time digital story board to replace the show's dry-erase system and a push for staff to work in the office when not reporting in the field.
The leak crackdown follows CBS News' May overhaul, in which Bilton replaced Tanya Simon and correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi, Cecilia Vega and Scott Pelley were ousted.
Bilton has already begun reshaping the lineup, adding Ross Douthat and Norah O'Donnell as correspondents alongside new contributors including Sebastian Junger, Gianna Toboni and Trevor Phillips.
