Summary
$2.3 million bond was set for Daniel Antonio Perez, 40, after authorities said he killed brothers Maliki Perales, 11, and Drayven Quiroz, 20, in a Tuesday night shooting.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said the brothers were backing a family car into their driveway when Perez crossed the street from his home and fired multiple times; investigators say he then shot at two other siblings and missed.
Bexar County's medical examiner ruled Perales' death a homicide from gunshot wounds to the head and torso, while Quiroz's cause and manner of death were still pending when officials confirmed his death Wednesday.
About a quarter-mile away, deputies located Perez by pinging his cellphone after he called 911 saying he had shot people; officers still ordered him at gunpoint to surrender, and the gun was found several houses away.
Relatives told investigators Perez had gone through prior mental health crises, and his next court appearance is tentatively set for Nov. 3.
