Summary
Keyan Jayden Rundell, 17, was taken into custody without incident at about 8 a.m. Wednesday at an Ellenton Super 8 and is being held for extradition to Volusia County.
Surveillance video placed Rundell at the scene, and a search of a home about 3 miles away turned up clothing and an e-bike investigators say linked him to the July 29 killings.
Police said Rundell knew victims Dustin Rose, 19, and Samson Campbell, 18, and believe they met the night of the shooting on a vacant industrial property behind DeLand's Athens Theatre.
State Attorney R.J. Larrizza said prosecutors usually charge cases like this in adult court and are reviewing whether the current 2 second-degree murder counts should be upgraded.
More than 30 public tips helped crack the case, police said, and additional warrants could follow for anyone accused of helping Rundell.
