Nimble Launches $80 Sharepower Charger, Splitting in 2 to Power 4 Devices

Q: Could splitting a single portable charger in half leave both users stranded with insufficient battery life during long trips?

Yes—on a long trip, splitting it can leave both people with only modest backup power, so it is best seen as a convenience charger, not a deep-reserve travel battery. Sharepower is effectively two 5,000mAh modules that combine into one 10,000mAh pack. In real use, a 5,000mAh power bank does not deliver the full rated amount because of conversion losses. That usually means each half provides only a partial-to-near-full phone recharge depending on the phone’s battery size and usage. Reviews cited in the supporting material note that 5,000mAh is not enough to fully charge larger phones such as an iPhone Pro Max, while the full 10,000mAh unit can. That means the risk is real if two users each take a half and both are relying on it for hours of navigation, streaming, photos or hotspot use. Each person may get only a top-up, not enough to stay powered through an entire day or a long leg of travel. Charging multiple devices at once also spreads the available energy more thinly, even if the product can technically power up to four devices when separated. The trade-off is flexibility. For commuters, couples, families or event-goers who just need emergency top-ups, the split design solves the awkwardness of sharing one battery. But for flights, road trips, camping or any situation with limited outlet access, a larger conventional power bank—typically 20,000mAh or more—would be the safer choice.

Q: Does building a power bank from ninety percent recycled materials compromise its magnetic durability for daily on-the-go use?

Not necessarily, but there is some evidence that Sharepower’s magnetic hold may be a weak point in daily carry. Nimble says Sharepower is made from more than 90% recycled materials, but the available product information does not show that the recycled-content construction directly reduces magnetic durability. The magnets that hold the two 5,000mAh halves together are a separate component from the recycled plastic and other housing materials, so recycled content alone is not proof of weaker magnetic performance. What does matter is real-world use. One hands-on review reported that the two halves often separated inside a bag because the magnets were not strong enough to resist bumps and pulling, and noted the lack of a physical lock. Another review found the opposite in pocket use, saying the pack generally stayed together and only split during a drop test from about waist height. Taken together, that suggests the issue is less about recycled materials and more about the product’s magnetic design and retention strength. So the answer is that the 90% recycled build does not appear to inherently compromise the magnets, but Sharepower may still fall short for some users who want a more secure snap-together device for rough, everyday movement. Buyers who plan to carry it loose in a bag or charge while walking may want to pay close attention to that trade-off.
