Nearly three years after her October 2023 diagnosis, Fox News senior editor Ashley Papa says she no longer measures success by a cure, but by staying present for her husband, 4-year-old daughter and work.
About 45 rounds of chemotherapy, multiple surgeries and repeated trips to Texas for targeted treatment have turned daily life into a cycle of infusions, side effects, scans and sudden hospital stays.
Work and parenting remain anchors through that routine: Papa says she often works during infusions and keeps pushing through treatment to care for her family and preserve a sense of identity.
Stage 4 disease has also forced harder family conversations as her daughter gets older, while Papa and her husband confront fears about an illness with no known cure and no specific treatment protocol.
For Papa, victory now means smaller gains — enough strength for school pickup, family outings, exercise or a quiet night at home — rather than a definitive end to cancer.
