That alignment has gained sharper attention after Descano faced congressional criticism over dropped cases, including one involving Abdul Jalloh, a 32-year-old Sierra Leonean migrant accused in a fatal bus-stop stabbing after more than 30 prior arrests.
The issue now moves into the Nov. 3 general election against Republican Rep. Rob Wittman, who won the district in 2024 by 56.3% to 43.5%.
