Summary
100 million yen from The Pokémon Company and 10 million yen from YOSHIKI were directed to Kumamoto Prefecture, the Japanese Red Cross and other relief groups after the July 28 earthquake.
A 6.8-magnitude quake hit Kumamoto at about 4:27 p.m., leaving about 38 people dead, 48,300 households without power and roughly 84,000 without running water.
Around 9,000 residents have been evacuated to shelters, while aftershocks triggered an explosion at Aeon Mall Kumamoto that killed at least seven people and a smokestack collapse that left nine Nippon Paper employees dead.
YOSHIKI separately gave 100,000 euros to the French and Spanish Red Cross as wildfires tied to a European heatwave forced more than 300,000 evacuations and pushed temperatures in France above 40C.
