About 80 Oneida County Summer Youth Employment Program participants completed a pilot AI Awareness course during the first week of August.
Four four-hour classes, run by the county's Office of Workforce Development with Mohawk Valley Community College, introduced AI's uses in education, careers and daily life.
The curriculum stressed responsible use—teaching students to use AI as a learning tool, spot AI-generated misinformation and fake videos, and question the accuracy of outputs.
Oneida County said the pilot is part of a broader workforce push to pair summer job experience with emerging-technology training as AI reshapes hiring and job skills.
