McKenna’s win looks more like a genuine, clear-cut boxing performance than a hometown-assisted escape. The strongest evidence is the shape of the fight itself. Multiple reports describe the same pattern: Oliha had moments early and in close, but McKenna increasingly controlled distance with his jab, footwork, uppercuts and cleaner straight shots. He kept the Italian at range, blunted his pressure in the clinches and on the ropes, and finished the bout composed even after suffering a cut from a head clash in the 11th. The scorecards also point to a deserved victory rather than a debatable hometown verdict. While 118-110 was wide, the other cards of 117-111 and 116-112 still reflect a fighter who won clearly over 12 rounds. The 116-112 card suggests there were competitive rounds to score. So the fairest reading is that the atmosphere amplified the occasion, not the outcome. Dublin gave McKenna emotional lift, but the available evidence shows his technical control, accuracy and ring management were the decisive factors.
