Summary
Hemispheric said its Descartes system can diagnose and grade conditions including depression, PTSD, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s from a 15-minute brain-wave test using a sensor cap and on-screen tasks.
The Israeli startup says the model turns brain-activity data into an objective clinical readout in a field that often relies on interviews, drawing on 100,000 subjects, about 250,000 hours of data and 6 billion parameters.
The company has shown the system to the FDA’s device center and plans to submit PTSD clinical-trial results as early as next year; it also ran a 122-patient pilot in Israeli combat veterans who served in Gaza.
Backed by $52 million and more than 110 staff across three countries, Hemispheric plans new Tel Aviv and Boston research sites by late September, lifting annual testing capacity to about 85,000.
