Summary
Rs 225 crore marks the first close of Aum Ventures' India Innovation Fund II, part of a planned Rs 750 crore vehicle backing Indian IP-led startups selling into global markets.
More than 65% of commitments came from international limited partners across the US, Middle East and other markets, with the fund targeting space tech, AI, semiconductors, defence tech, robotics and energy transition.
Initial checks will typically range from $750,000 to $2 million at pre-seed and seed stages, with follow-on capital reserved through Series A and Series B for 25-30 companies.
Aum is pitching the new fund off its 2023 debut fund, which it said has delivered a 2.23x gross MOIC and 53% gross IRR so far, and included early backing for Skyroot Aerospace.
The raise adds to a broader wave of India deep-tech fundraising, after recent launches by Shastra VC, IIT Madras-Unicorn India Ventures and Piper Serica.
