Denmark Inflation Eases to 1.7% in July as Food and Housing Prices Cool

Denmark’s annual inflation rate slowed to 1.7% in July from 1.9% in each of the previous two months, while monthly consumer prices still rose 1.3% after a 0.2% gain in June.
Food prices fell 1.6% from a year earlier versus a 0.9% drop in June, and housing and utilities were flat after rising 0.5%, providing the main downward pressure.
Price growth also cooled in leisure, sports and culture to 0.8% from 2.8%, in clothing and footwear to 0.9% from 2.3%, and in personal care and miscellaneous goods to 1.5% from 1.8%.
Transport costs accelerated to 5.5% from 4.5% on higher petrol prices, restaurants and hotels rose 8.1% from 5.7% on holiday home rentals, and Core inflation held at 2.3%.
