Two weeks after beta 4, Apple released macOS Golden Gate beta 5 to developers through Software Update for accounts with Beta Updates enabled.
Beta 5 sharpens the redesign with higher Liquid Glass opacity, a transparency slider, clearer active-window shadows, uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars and fewer menu-bar icons.
Siri AI is the headline addition: a chatbot-style assistant in Spotlight and a dedicated app that uses world knowledge, personal data and onscreen context, with custom voices on newer Macs.
Apple also added Visual Intelligence for screen queries, Write with Siri for drafting and feedback, AI photo editing, Safari tab organization, automatic weak-password updates and a revamped Image Playground.
