Summary
Red Rock residents from Thoroughbred Circle to Red Rock were placed under evacuation orders at 3:12 p.m., after officials had issued warnings for the same area about an hour earlier.
New warnings also now cover Washoe County from the intersection of Red Rock Road and Rodeo Drive northeast to beyond Percheron Drive as the Bug Fire keeps spreading.
The fire near Cold Springs has grown to 17,000 acres and is only 4% contained, with the Bureau of Land Management saying it remains active and wind-driven.
BLM said the blaze started around 3:30 p.m. Saturday and has been ruled human-caused, while hot, dry and windy weather is expected to keep fueling rapid spread into the evening.
