Newly released text messages from Anthony Fauci’s government phone prompted Marc Siegel to argue Fauci was too dogmatic and too slow to adjust COVID guidance as evidence changed.
Siegel said the gap showed up on masking, school closures, lockdowns and pregnancy vaccination, where he believes contradictory findings deserved faster public discussion even as he continued backing mRNA vaccines.
He also argued vaccine mandates lasted too long as protection waned, saying the failure to pivot helped fuel public distrust and exposed a wider difference between Fauci’s private and public discourse.
Sens. Ron Johnson and Rand Paul released the first batch Monday, and Siegel said the key test in future messages will be whether Fauci’s advice evolved with the science or hardened into dogma.
